Book Fair hosts two authors starting Oct. 23

The annual Book Fair starts Monday, Oct. 23, and is open all week. 
On Monday, students have the opportunity to preview the books and then time to shop throughout the week. Parents are welcome to shop in person, too. The fair also be open during parent-teacher conference hours (Oct. 26-27). Payment can be cash, card or charged to your MV account. Here is the book fair shopping form. Selections are curated by Denise Phillips P '25, owner of Gathering Volumes bookstore in Perrysburg, with input from faculty. This year's visiting authors are Aya Khalil, who visits with Lower School students Oct. 24, and Tricia Springstubb, who visits with Middle School students Oct. 28.

Khalil is the award-winning author of The Arabic Quilt: An Immigrant Story, which is a Charlotte Huck Award Recommended Book and a 2021 Arab American Book Award among other honors, Our World: Egypt (October 2022), The Night Before Eid: A Muslim Family Story (2023) and The Banned Books Bake Sale: A Protest Story (2023). 

Springstubb is a critically acclaimed author of picture books, chapter books, and middle grade novels. She lives in Ohio. Her books have appeared on many best-of-the-year and state-book lists, and received recognition from the Junior Library Guild, the Parents Choice Awards, and the American Library Association Notable Books committee.
